Prayer of Gratitude

Lord, thank you for the abundance of blessings you have placed in my life. Thank you that you have provided me with all that I need. Lord, I pray that you lift from my heart any anxiety, fear, doubt, worry, stress, and self-limiting beliefs that are causing me to fall away from you. Help me release the desires of my flesh and any comparison to others and allow me to walk fully in the light you shine upon me. I am grateful for this life and the opportunity to love and serve you.

Amen.

God’s Word

“The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

Have you ever struggled to make a difficult decision in life?

Of course, you have. You’re a human being.

One year ago, I faced the toughest decision of my life.

It was one-week post-cardiac arrest and the doctors still could not point to what caused my heart to stop.

My 3 options moving forward were:

  1. Get a subcutaneous IDC (defibrillator) put into my side that would deliver me a shock if I ever had a cardiac episode regain

  2. Have a pacemaker surgically implanted in my chest to help my heart beat at a normal rate and rhythm

  3. Do nothing and take the risk

I prayed all day and night about what decision to make and the Lord would give me discernment.

Later that day, He made it clear what to do.

One of my co-founders sent me this video of a soccer player whose defibrillator saved his life in the middle of a game.

I believe that was God’s way of showing me what I should do.

I had to kill my ego that didn’t want a lumpy device on my side for the rest of my life.

Ultimately, this device is my piece of mind knowing that if anything were to happen again, the device would save my life.

I didn’t want to give up living an active lifestyle for the sake of my ego.

When faced with difficult decisions, we must surrender it to God and pray for discernment, read His word and let Him speak to us through it, and trust in His plan.

Why I Stopped Training Fasted

One of the biggest MISTAKES I have made in my fitness journey is training fasted.

This is not to say that is bad for everyone, but I would argue that the majority of people would benefit from training fueled vs. fasted.

Last year I started doing intermittent fasting (16-hour fast, 8-hour feeding window) every day.

I fell victim to the bio-hacking bros on Instagram who claimed it was the key to more sustained energy, better cellular health, decreasing body fat, yada-yada-yada.

I lost a ton of muscle mass, had little energy, wasn’t sleeping great, and my hormone levels were in the toilet.

It took another blood test showing that my testosterone was still extremely low (in the 200’s), my thyroid function was off, and my liver enzymes were higher than they should be.

I started eating breakfast again, upped my calories from 2,000 to ~3,000 per day, and consumed more carbs and less fats.

As a result I went from 180 lbs to 200 lbs in a little less than 6 months, raised my energy levels, saw a boost in my performance and energy levels, my mood each day brightened, I had more zest for life.

I haven’t done another blood test since then, but my bio-feedback has been great, my performance is the best it’s been since pre-cardiac arrest, and I’ve been able to hold on to more muscle while staying lean.

Don’t believe everything you see on the internet every BODY is different.

Eat your carbs, kids.

How to Ditch and Anxiety for GOOD

Over the past few months, I have been guilty of holding onto anxiety and lacking in my gratitude practices.

I heard a quote from a sermon this past week that hit me right in the gut.

“As long as you’re grateful, you can’t be anxious.”

It’s impossible to feel anxious when you have a grateful heart.

Now, this might be easier said than done, but when you look at your day and ask yourself why you are anxious, it’s most likely because you are not fixing your eyes on Jesus.

We spend so much time on social media comparing ourselves to others and focusing on what we don’t have vs. expressing gratitude for the blessings God has given us.

Start your day with prayer and reading the Bible, and you’ll feel that anxiety fade away.

The ONLY App You Need for Health Content

One of the most frustrating things for me in the past has been finding a simple, easy-to-use, and value-packed platform that gives me access to all of the health and fitness content I want.

There are a million different apps, websites, PDFs, and paid communities that offer certain things, but there has not been a platform that gives me everything under one subscription.

Until now.

Last week we launched the Upspace app on the app store.

Upspace allows you to:

  • Discover new health content like workouts, recipes, and guides

  • Take action without having to rewatch an IG Reel workout 168 times

  • Personalize your health content through playlists you can complete and share with others.

We are offering an exclusive deal for a one-time payment of $12.99 for lifetime access for the next 100 users, then $12.99/month. That is a LOT of savings!

If you want to lock yourself in for a one-time payment instead of being charged monthly, you can get access here.

Psalm 100 - Prayer for Thanksgiving

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
    Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come before Him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
    It is He who made us, and we are His;
    we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving,
    and His courts with praise;
    give thanks to Him and praise His Name.
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;
    His faithfulness continues through all generations.

Amen.
