Prayer for guidance
Heavenly Father, thank you for all of the blessings you have given me. Thank you for the opportunity to know, love, and serve you each day. Lord, help me be more intentional with my time, money, resources, and energy. I pray that you help me cultivate more spiritual awareness to walk through the doors you open.
Amen.
Let’s advance God’s kingdom together.
God’s Word
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
Come on. This is too good.
As an athlete, this resonates heavily with me.
To excel in your sport requires an insane amount of discipline to achieve greatness.
Everything you do is done with intentionality:
Showing up for workouts
Eating a clean diet
Getting proper sleep
Mobility work
Watching film
You put in the work required and then some to give yourself the best chance to receive the crown, as put in the Scriptures above.
When we do this, we increase the likelihood of achieving the goals we set.
The same thing goes for growth in our spiritual journey.
How can we expect to deepen our faith in God if we aren’t sweating for it?
When we consistently open our Bibles, read the living Word, contemplate what we read, and ask God for guidance on how to apply it in our lives to glorify Him, He will give us direction.
Just like you can’t expect your muscles to grow after a few “meh” sessions in the gym, you can’t expect your faith to be strengthened without being intentional with how you’re growing in your faith.
The crown that we should be working toward, as it says in the Scriptures, is an everlasting one that is eternal life with God. Anything else is destined to turn to dust on the earth.
Who do you think is the most intentional person ever to walk the face of the earth?
Yep, you guessed it: Jesus.
Everything He did was with the utmost intention.
He knew His time on earth was limited and He had one mission: die on the cross for our sins so that we’d have the chance at eternal life in Heaven.
He didn’t waste any time.
There are times in my faith, fitness, business, and relationships when I feel stagnant.
Most of the time, I can trace it back to not being intentional with growing in my faith.
I can’t just listen to the Bible while I brush my teeth and make my coffee. I have to get up earlier to spend time with the Lord.
When I do, it creates a domino effect in all other areas of my life.
Be proactive with growing in your faith and it will pour over into all areas of life.
Nutrition Hack to Recover from a Hard Workout
You know the feeling of getting smoked by a tough workout and wanting to do nothing but lay on the couch the rest of the day.
God needs you to be a productive member of society and do the work to grow His Kingdom, so we’ve got to get you going again.
There’s one hack for recovering from a hard workout that has NEVER failed me:
having a 2:1 carb/protein smoothie immediately (within 45 minutes) after a tough workout.
To keep it simple, it would be a smoothie/shake with 25g of protein and 50g of carbs (it will vary based on height, weight, activity level, etc.).
Carbohydrates are the primary source of energy during exercise. A 2:1 ratio ensures there are enough carbs to quickly restore glycogen levels which helps with muscle recovery and downregulation of the central nervous system.
Consuming protein after a workout helps to reduce muscle soreness and accelerates the repair process.
This is a winning combo I learned in my nutrition coaching certification course and one I have been giving to my former clients and using myself over the past few years.
Here’s one of my go-to smoothie recipes:
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 cup of frozen blueberries
1 banana
1 scoop of protein powder (I use Organifi Complete Protein)
ice
This cranks.
Always keep it simple.
After having this smoothie, eating a nutrient-dense meal an hour or so later will help replenish the body and speed up the recovery process to keep getting after it.
Start Before You’re Ready
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
October 30, 2020
Chances are, there’s been something that God has put on your heart that you have been avoiding taking action on.
I had wanted to create content ever since I was a kid, but I was afraid of what my friends would think and made the excuse that I didn’t have the money to afford the equipment.
During the pandemic, I finally tapped into the courage that God gave me and started a podcast.
I had no idea what I was doing.
I had no name, no niche, no topic, no microphone, no studio, nothing.
But, I just got started.
As soon as I recorded that first episode, I knew that I had found something I loved and wanted to pour my heart into.
I have spent thousands of hours researching, editing, recording, cold DMing, learning, and everything in between to improve as best I could.
If I had waited for the “right time” I’d still be waiting.
There is no right ti-
Scratch that… NOW is the right time!!!
God has given us all that we need to get started, and He’ll guide us along the way so long as we surrender and be obedient to His plan for us.
Start before you’re ready.

Closing Prayer
Lord, I pray that you give me the courage to go after the things that you are putting on my heart. Help me trust in you more and more with each passing day so that I can separate myself from the desires of my
flesh and things of this world and instead seek first your Kingdom.
Amen.
