What 5 Years of Struggle Taught Me About Trusting God’s Timing
Why I Almost Quit—And What God Showed Me in the Waiting

Welcome to One Day Out, a weekly newsletter to help deepen your faith, enhance your health, and guide you in pursuing a purpose-filled life.
Opening Prayer
Father, thank You for being faithful in every season—even when the road feels slow, uncertain, or unclear. Teach me to trust Your pace. Help me persevere through the valleys, celebrate on the mountaintops, and walk with faith every step of the way. May this journey bring You glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
I Wanted the Fast Lane… But God Had Me on the Trail
I’ve been creating content for five years now.
But six months ago… I seriously thought about quitting.
The brands I was working with dropped me.
The startup I helped build for three years was in the rearview.
My content was tanking.
And I felt like I had no direction.
I had given up comfort to follow what I believed the Lord was calling me into… and it felt like I was falling flat on my face.
It didn’t make sense. I had “put in the work.” I had been consistent. Shouldn’t that mean I was due for a breakthrough?
That’s when God reminded me:
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
The Trailhead: 2020
In 2020, I launched Days With Dom as a fun pandemic hobby. I just needed a creative outlet.
In 2021, I went back to school to finish my senior year of football and documented every second—training, nutrition, mindset.
Then in 2022, I started running. I shared my journey publicly for months with almost no engagement. But one month before my marathon, things caught fire. I went from 3K to 10K followers in 30 days.
I thought, “Okay, this is it. I’ve arrived.”
But God wasn’t done shaping me.
The Detour: 2023
In 2023, I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest.
My identity as “the runner guy” was gone.
I couldn’t train the way I used to, and I didn’t know what my content should look like anymore.

So I pivoted—toward holistic health, nutrition, and healing.
It didn’t feel good in the moment. But now I see—God was stripping away anything I was holding above Him.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
The Wandering: 2024

I felt lost again.
What kind of content should I post? Who am I creating for? Is this even working?
That’s when I felt God pressing something deep on my heart:
Talk about Jesus.
So I did.
And I started losing followers. For 6 months, my engagement plummeted. I got self-conscious. I questioned if I was ruining everything I had worked for.
But God kept whispering: Keep going.
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Then something shifted.
A few posts resonated—not because of clever editing or strategy.
But because I surrendered.
And that’s when I realized something I wish I had grasped sooner:
Faith isn’t a content pillar. It’s the foundation.
Jesus isn’t something I talk about in some posts—He’s the reason I do any of it.
Now, every recipe, workout, or thought I share runs through the same lens:
“Does this glorify Jesus?”
My mission is to help people steward their health—physically, mentally, and spiritually—so they can strengthen their walk with the Lord and show up more fully in every area of life.
Because we aren’t called to blend in.
We’re called to be different.
To live set apart.
To use everything—our bodies, our discipline, our stories—for Him.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
The Trail Is Long… But You’re Not Lost
It’s taken me five years, dozens of pivots, one heart attack, and countless “failures” to get here.
But I wouldn’t trade a second of it.
Because this journey isn’t about becoming a successful content creator.
It’s about becoming someone who points people to Jesus.
And right now, this is the way He’s letting me do that.
“But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”
I don’t know what’s next. I’m still figuring things out.
But I’ve stopped trying to control the timeline.
I’m just putting one foot in front of the other.
If You’re On the Trail… Keep Walking
This is your sign to not give up.
You may feel stuck, unseen, or like it’s not working.
But God sees. God knows. God is working.
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him…”
Persevere through the silence.
Praise through the slowness.
And ask:
“Lord, am I chasing growth, or am I walking in obedience?”
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for the trials that shape us, the delays that humble us, and the journey that teaches us to trust You more. Help me stop chasing timelines and start walking in obedience. Let my life be a reflection of Your grace and truth. May every step I take be for Your glory—not mine. In Jesus’ name, amen.
