Welcome to One Day Out, a weekly newsletter to help deepen your faith, enhance your health, and guide you in pursuing a purpose-filled life.
Opening Prayer
Lord, thank you for all of the blessings in my life that I do not deserve. Help me to have a more grateful heart and pour that unto others so that they may hear of Your mighty name. Father, I thank you for equipping me with all that I need. Help me to live in a way that brings you glory and honor.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
The “Get-To-Do” List
How often do you set goals or make promises to yourself, only to fall off by day one?
I have been in that boat many times before. This list is actually a byproduct of feeling stuck. Truthfully, I have been lacking discipline in my life and I know that nothing will change unless I take action.
My good friend Paul Ziegler inspired this idea. He shares his daily "do's" online, holding himself accountable to meaningful actions every day. Inspired by him, I decided to create my own list and keep it visible—right on the whiteboard by my desk.
This inspired me to create a list for myself, so I came up with the concept of a “get-to-do list” where the mindset is I get to do these things instead of I have to do these things.
I hung my whiteboard next to my desk so it is the first thing I see, and every day I have been and will continue to take a picture of my list with either a checkmark or X next to each task and post it on social media as accountability.
You don’t have to post it on social media (unless you want to) but having a daily get-to-do list can be a great way to build habits that will help you see progress in your day and in your life.
How It Works:
Each day, I have the same list of tasks unless I choose to add or subtract something. These tasks focus on the areas I want to grow in, like faith, health, relationships, and business. They’re not just chores—they’re opportunities for growth. Here is my current list:
My get-to-do list
This seems like a lot, so don’t let it overwhelm you. The less you commit to at first, the better. Then, you can build more daily habits as they become easy.
Your Turn: Build Your List
Think about the areas of your life where you want to grow. Here’s how you can start:
Reflect on Your Priorities:
Take a moment to identify the areas that matter most to you—faith, health, relationships, business, or others.Ask Yourself These Questions:
What small, daily actions will help me grow in each area?
Which tasks will move the needle forward the most?
Write Down 3-5 Daily Actions:
Keep it simple but impactful. For example:Faith: Read one chapter of scripture or spend 5 minutes in prayer.
Health: Walk 10,000 steps or complete a 30-minute workout.
Relationships: Call a loved one or send a thoughtful message.
Business: Spend 30 minutes on focused deep work or outreach.
Tips to Make It Work for You:
Batch Tasks Together: Group similar tasks like taking a walk and sending those 3 messages on the end of the walk.
Set Specific Times on Your Calendar: Block out time for these tasks during the day to make sure they actually happen. Treat them like appointments you can’t miss.
Use Phone Reminders: Set daily alarms or reminders on your phone to help you stay on track and make your habits stick.
Remember, growth doesn’t happen overnight, but every day you show up, you create momentum. Let your “Get-to-Do List” be something you look forward to knowing you’re moving forward. Keep taking action, no matter how small, and trust that progress will follow. You’ve got this!
What I’m Studying
I have been diving into Isaiah 53 and, wow. If someone you know doesn’t believe Jesus to be the Savior of the world, show them this passage of Scripture. The prophecy was given to Isaiah by God 700 years before Jesus was sent to earth. Seven hundred years.
4 Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
The prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus took on our sins and died on the cross so that “with his wounds, we are healed" (v. 5). The Bible is undeniable, and God is so sovereign in His plan to offer us the free gift of salvation that comes with placing our faith and trust in Jesus.
I highly recommend this sermon series by John MacArthur if you want to dive deeper.
BIG NEWS!
After a lot of prayer, I have decided to step back into health and fitness coaching. My goal is to help mission-driven people revitalize their health through personalized fitness and nutrition coaching.
This is about way more than fitness; it’s a holistic approach to health, designed to help individuals reach their God-given potential by increasing energy, focus, and overall well-being.
I am looking for 3 people who want to look, feel, and perform better and honor the body God gave them. Spots are limited, but I wanted to offer this opportunity to you all first :) If this sounds like you, you can book a free 1:1 call with me here!
Closing Prayer
Father, You are such a righteous, just, and holy God. Thank you for sending Your son to die on the cross and take on the weight of our sin so that we may have eternal life with you. Help me to fully surrender to Your will for my life and be a blessing to others and point them to You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
