Welcome to One Day Out, a weekly newsletter to help deepen your faith, enhance your health, and guide you in pursuing a purpose-filled life.
Opening Prayer
Lord, thank You for reminding me that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. I pray that whoever reads this today lays down their striving and hears Your invitation to walk in step with You. Help me trust that surrender doesn’t mean giving up—it means giving it to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Special thanks to my brother Joe Rinaldi for giving me the opportunity to speak at the Project Endure event this past Saturday in Philly!
Strength in Surrender
I went back and forth at least a dozen times on what I was going to speak about at the Project Endure event this weekend. I had 10 minutes… which, if you know me, is not a lot of time. I like to yap (I’m working on it).
After a long travel day, I got to my parents’ house in the Philly su
burbs and laced up my shoes for a run. Just me, the road, and a conversation with God. I asked the Holy Spirit, “What do You want me to say? Not what sounds cool or motivational. What matters?”
And one phrase came to mind:
Strength in Surrender.
That’s what I shared the next day with a room full of 150+ people. Not a motivational “go crush your goals” speech. Not a hype message. But a quiet truth that God’s been working deep into my heart.
Striving vs. Surrender
For a long time, I was chasing more.
More training.
More success.
More validation.
More metrics.
More hustle.
Then in 2024, my heart stopped.
Literally.
Flatlined for two and a half minutes.
I talk about it a lot—not to be dramatic—but because I’m still learning from it. That moment didn’t just pause my life. It reset it.
God showed me:
You are not in control.
You never were.
And that’s a good thing.
“But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself,
if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus,
to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” — Acts 20:24
Here’s what I want to make clear when I say surrender:
This isn’t some vague, feel-good, “let the universe guide you” kind of surrender.
This is not passivity.
This is not giving up.
This is active, intentional, bold surrender—to the one true living God.
To Jesus Christ, who knows you, loves you, and leads you better than you ever could on your own.
The Goals We Chase
I told the crowd something that might’ve made a few jaws drop:
“Your goals don’t matter that much.”
Let me explain.
Goals do matter. But if all we’re chasing is the next PR, the next business milestone, the next dopamine hit from achievement—we’re missing the point.
God cares more about the posture of your heart than the pace of your progress.
“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things,
holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” — 1 Timothy 4:8
You can have abs and still be spiritually empty.
You can win the game and still lose your soul.
That’s why I keep coming back to surrender.
Preparing for More (by Letting Go)
As I get closer to marriage, I’m learning that love looks a lot like sacrifice.
Real love dies to itself—daily.
It’s not glamorous. It’s not easy. But it’s the kind of love Jesus modeled. And if I want more of Him, I have to let go of more of me.
Here are 5 things I’m doing differently right now:
Waking up earlier to meet with God before the day gets noisy.
Simplifying meals so I can spend less time stressing and more time being present.
One workout per day. No more 2-a-days. I train for health, not for ego.
Delegating and deleting. Saying no more often so I can say yes to what actually matters.
More prayer, more discernment. I’m not reacting to what the world throws at me—I’m responding to where God’s leading.
If you’re in a season of striving, I get it.
I’ve lived there for years.
But you don’t have to earn your peace.
You just have to receive it.
The strength you’re looking for isn’t in doing more.
It’s in laying it all down.
Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for meeting me when I finally stopped trying to earn what You’ve already given me. Help me to surrender every anxious thought, every to-do list, every pressure to perform. I want more of You. I want Your will, not mine. Teach me that real strength is found in letting go and trusting You completely.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
P.S.
I’m taking on 2 new clients for May.
If this message hit home, and you know it’s time to build a stronger body, deeper faith, and more aligned life—don’t wait.
Let’s get to work.
